Tour of NBK Headquarter

In Collaboration with WHO & in celebration of World Environment Day 2024

The tour included policymakers, civil society, researchers and international partners.

June 2024, Kuwait City - In celebration of World Environment Day 2024, the Kuwait Green Building Council (KGBC), in collaboration with NBK and WHO Kuwait, brought together policymakers, civil society, and international partners to highlight the vital connections between green buildings and public health. The initiative showcased sustainable building practices that positively impact health and encouraged discussions on policies that support Kuwait’s sustainable development goals.

A tour of NBK's LEED Gold-certified Headquarters in Sharq was a key feature, demonstrating the bank's commitment to sustainability. The headquarters, recognized as the “Commercial Property Project of the Year” in the 2021 MEED Project Awards for the MENA region, exemplifies eco-friendly construction that reduces environmental impact and promotes well-being.

The event emphasized the benefits of green buildings, including cost savings, healthier living environments, and the integration of safe materials and advanced air filtration systems. This initiative aligns with Kuwait’s broader efforts to develop evidence-based policies that enhance both the built environment and public health. KGBC remains focused on shaping policies and actions that support sustainable development and prioritize human health in urban planning.
