Film Screening & Panel Discussion: Lessons of Darkness

The Kuwait Green Building Council (KGBC), in collaboration with Ajial Real Estate, is pleased to host a special screening Directed by Werner Herzog, the film offers a haunting and visually striking portrayal of the environmental and human aftermath of the Kuwaiti oil fires during the Iraqi invasion, inviting viewers to reflect on the lasting impact of conflict, resource exploitation, and our relationship with the natural world.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion led by Dr. Reem AlAwadhi, Assistant Professor at Kuwait University, and Dr. Abdullah Husain, Assistant Professor at Kuwait University, who will explore the film’s themes through the lens of sustainability, environmental responsibility, and the role of the built environment in shaping a more resilient future.
