Join us for a guided tour of Alothman Mosque

Kuwait Green Building Council invites its organization and individual members only to an exclusive guided tour of Al Othman Mosque, a landmark of mid-century modern Islamic architecture and a symbol of Kuwait’s early oil-era modernization.

Originally built in the 1950s, the mosque reflects an innovative blend of traditional Arabic-Islamic forms and modern materials. The restoration and rehabilitation project, launched in 2024, aimed to recover the mosque’s original architectural identity while preserving its cultural and historical significance.

The project reinstates the building’s original design language while integrating contemporary sustainability measures, including solar power generation, grey-water recycling, and high-efficiency HVAC systems. Recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council and pre-certified for LEED Gold, Al Othman Mosque is Kuwait’s first mosque and first heritage rehabilitation project to receive international sustainability recognition.

This tour offers KGBC members a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of heritage conservation and sustainable design in Kuwait.

*This tour is exclusively for KGBC members, any registration from non-members will not be considered.
