About KGBC
Established officially in 2017, Kuwait Green Building Council (KGBC) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, membership-driven organization seeking to promote and advocate for the sustainable transformation of Kuwait's built environment. KGBC is affiliated with a global network of more than 75 green building councils operating under the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) umbrella.
At the Kuwait Green Building Council, we believe that buildings and urban environments are catalysts for shaping our sustainable future. Partnership with bp to Support Student Renewable Energy Program
KGBC and bp Kuwait have partnered to launch a five-week Renewable Energy Student Program aimed at empowering architecture and engineering students with knowledge on sustainable energy solutions. The program will equip 25 students with the skills needed to advance Kuwait’s transition to renewable energy.
LEED Certification Support for J2 Project
KGBC has partnered with J2 General Contracting Company to support the certification of the new J2 - Business and Retail Center in Jaber Al Ahmad. KGBC will provide expert guidance and technical support to ensure that sustainable practices are integrated throughout every stage of the project. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to sustainability in Kuwait’s evolving urban landscape.
Tour of NBK HQ in Partnership with WHO
For World Environment Day 2024, NBK, WHO Kuwait, and KGBC highlighted the vital link between green buildings and public health. The event brought together policymakers and partners to discuss sustainable practices that enhance well-being. Attendees toured NBK's LEED Gold-certified headquarters, showcasing how eco-friendly design boosts air quality, energy efficiency, and health.
