Nenada Nenadic Tanasic,
Msc. Struct Eng, LEED AP, EDGE Expert, EYWA Consultancy
Eng. Nenada holds Master in Structural Engineering from the Faculty of Structural Engineering, Serbia. She is LEED accredited professional in building design and construction and EDGE Expert professional. Nenada is Green Classroom Professional as well since 2016. She has been employed as a consultant and project administrator on several LEED projects in Europe such as mixed-use buildings, Chinese cultural center, Sava Business Center, office buildings, Hotel Continental etc. Nenada has eleven years of experience in design, construction supervision and quality control in building industry and twenty-two years of experience in project management.
In 2018 Nenada presented LEED certification process on the round table organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Serbian Green Building Council and in 2017 lecptured two  courses for General Contractors: WHAT SHOULD A GENERAL CONTRACTROR KNOW WHEN ENGAGED ON A PROJECT THAT IS GOING TO BE LEED CERTIFIED. in 2017 on the round table organised by the Serbian Green Building Council presented: Enviromental Product Declarations (EPD) and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).

Dr. Ioannis Spanos,

Dr Spanos consultancy and project management experience include the development of low energy, environmentally friendly and sustainable urban solutions in UK, West Africa and GCC. Following a Doctorate in the physics of energy in urban environments, he has been exposed in the design and development of projects within commercial, education, mixed use, regeneration, residential, hospitality, leisure and sports sectors.
Dr Spanos has project managed and led design teams that have developed successfully low energy buildings and urban planning solutions, by exploring the integration of low energy and sustainability concepts into the urban environment. His work has been both wide ranging, from theory to laboratory and then to design and reverse engineering assessment of working solutions.
Dr Spanos works on sustainability and in energy efficiency has been praised internationally and he has received regional awards.

Dr. Esam Elsarrag
Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering, CEO and Founder of beGREEN Global
Dr. Elsarrag is CEO & Founder of beGREEN Global UK. He has about three decades of experience in higher education, research and building industry, gained through his work in the Middle East and Europe. In additional to his work as a consultant, he continues to be active in scientific research.
He developed and reviewed sustainability standards including challenging applications such as air-conditioned stadiums, healthcare and railways and continued to develop novel sustainability approaches and customized standards.
Dr. Elsarrag has trained more than 4000 professionals from all over the world and delivered hundreds of speeches and invited lectures. He also remains active in academic and scientific community and published numerous peer reviewed papers and has several patents.  He has specialist expertise in sustainable developments, standards development, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy modelling and building services

Herbert Klausner
CEO & General Manager,SIEMENS, Kuwait
Klausner joined the regional management team from the Power and Gas Division at Siemens AG in Germany, where he headed Large Gas Turbine Berlin Operations. His career at Siemens spans 34 years, including posi-tions in Kuwait, Indonesia, Austria and Germany.
Klausner started his career with Siemens in 1979 in Austria. Since then, he has worked across different teams and countries. His current post marks a return after eight years to Kuwait, where he held the position of Group Manager for Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Automation & Drives, Industry Solutions, and Siemens Building Technologies.
As Kuwait’s strategy focuses on strengthening the economy and supporting social and human development, Klausner is channeling his experience toward supporting these goals through the company’s offerings across electrification, automation and digitalization. He continues to build on Siemens’ strong presence in Kuwait dating back to 1959.

Zelimir Anic
Zelimir has developed mixed-use sector expertise working on several large mixed-use projects throughout theMiddle East. His previous experience on a variety of diverse projects helped him to understand the complexityand constraints of mixed-use projects, leading teams to successfully deliver the design. An ability to understandthe broad picture and client needs was vital for success of delivered projects.
In UAE, Zelimir has led multidisciplinary teams for multimillion projects as project director, setting and managingprofessional and technical quality standards, as well as developing key relationships to enhance the profile ofthe Region and the Company.
Farah Naz
Having gained construction sector experience in the UK, USA, and UAE, including working with the CopenhagenGovernment to develop green city initiatives and other sustainability policies, Farah now oversees sustainabilityin Dubai for BuroHappold Engineering. She’s heavily involved in developing the practice’s sustainability strategyfor building- and city-level urban planning, resource-efficient planning, the health and wellbeing agenda forsmart cities, and liveability for Arab cities in the Middle East. She looks after UK and European projects in hercapacity as technical specialist in building performance evaluation for passive and low energy.
Farah was a prime mover in creating the strategy for the first zero energy building in the UK which, subsequently,won the 2015 RIBA Sustainable Buildings Award. And, currently, she’s working on the sustainability projectsacross the region including the Museum of the Future, the Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi, the Bee’ah headquarters,a sustainability pavilion for EXPO 2020, and Masdar master planning.

Ante has extensive experience in business planning, project appraisal and development of strategic projectsacross different sectors of the built environment. His work has included a client advisory post for regeneratingRiyadh’s historical precinct of Atturaif; vision and viability strategies for a new coastal city development; variouseconomic analysis; feasibility studies and financial viability assessments for strategic projects in Jeddah and Riyadh.Prior to joining BuroHappold, Ante was employed as an expansion manager for one of the world’s largest retailgroups (Schwarz Group). His work included conducting a comprehensive property portfolio expansion strategyfrom project initiation through to development management

I have worked in the construction industry for 13 years, across projects ranging from small kitchen refurbishments through to US$500 million mixed-use schemes. My work has as a Chartered Architectural Technologist has touched upon a range of sectors such as residential, retail, hospitality, mixed-used and civic developments in the UK, China, Middle East and Africa.  I began my career as an Architectural Assistant working at a AEDAS gaining my qualifications via day release and developing my career through several different and diverse architectural practices including CRTKL, Gensler, Broadway Malyan. My recent experience over the past two years has been with the Kuwaiti practice Pace.
I have always had a passion for sustainable building design, always striving to push the sustainability issue. Last year I decided to take it one step further by enrolling in a master’s programme in sustainable building design at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, UK. In addition to this I have recently gained the LEED GA qualification from USGBC.

Currently Head of Sustainability at Al Hamra , a major contractor in Kuwait , whose ongoing projects include Kuwait Gulf Oil Company Headquarters, a project currently pursuing LEED certification. .

Naser Madouh,

NASER MADOUH is the Founder and Director of STUDIO MADOUH, an International firm that realizes contemporary Architecture, Urban, Interior Design, and Décor projects. MADOUH’s cutting edge work and progressive philosophy gained international attention, recently awarded at the International Design Awards at the Architecture and Design Museum in LA, and the American Architecture Prize in 2017 for RESIDENTIAL NASIMA at the New Museum in NY. His work has been recognized by elite press and publications such as Arab Times, Architectural Digest, as well as Vogue magazine and has participated in key events, as well as displayed work across the globe, including the Milan Furniture Fair in Italy for CHABLE project, Settimo To-kyo Advanced Architecture Biennale, and the International Event beyond Media in NY. He is also an active jury on many design reviews and was on numerous international design panels and congresses as he recently spoke at the World Design Summit 2017 in Montreal. MADOUH received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and his Master of Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, NY. He is a member of Kuwait Society of Engineers, and He has held teaching fellowships at Pratt Institute and has co-taught design studios at Kuwait University.

Raghid Gabrial has more than 35 years of international experience in the field of design, con-struction management, and testing and commissioning of building’s HVAC and mechanical systems. He has managed the commissioning activities for different types of buildings and been involved during the design and construction stages of projects.
He is currently leading Alpin’s team on some of the most prestigious projects such as Expo 2020, Royal Atlantis, Masdar Neighborhood Development, and many others.
Raghid is a leader in the industry and has sound knowledge of the internationally recognized standards such as ASHRAE, LEED, SMACNA and NFPA standards ect.

Anoop Sreekumar is a specification manager for the Middle East Market at Saint Gobain. He holds a Bechalor’s degree in electronics & telecommunication engineering from the University of Kerala. Sustainability has become a major focus in the recent years all around Middle East. Technology is a key concept for the development of sustainable buildings. This technology must assure an efficient use of the systems. Anoop is always interested in new building technologies and sustainability measures. Anoop got certified in Pearl Rating System for Building, Community and Villas (PBRS, PCRS, and PVRS) in the year 2013.

Since mid-2015, Alain Garnier is in charge of developing the SageGlass business of Saint-Gobain in the Middle East. His goal is to support continued and sustainable growth for the SageGlass dynamic glazing solution, and to address this new market segment from a position of strength throughout the region. In 2002, Alain joined the Saint-Gobain group, and from 2003, he headed the newly created business unit Photovoltaics within the Flat Glass division. In 2012, he took up the challenge of developing the market for SageGlass electrochromic glass in Europe, and successfully completed numerous large-scale façade projects. Alain graduated in Engineering from the Ecole Centrale (France) and studied at the Technical University of Berlin. He received his MSc in Industrial Robotics from the Cranfield University (UK), and later graduated from the ESSEC business school executive management program. Passionate about sharing his extensive knowledge of the glass business in Europe, US and Asia, Alain is a frequent speaker at conferences, seminars and trade shows.

Developed a model for residential arid zone self-sufficiency system using existing solutions available to the public, along with some original design work like Naseem (passive HVAC system).

Mohamad Asfour,
Regional Head of MENA Region, World Green Building Council
Mohammad Asfour is the Regional Head of the MENA Network, working on a part-time basis. In this role, Mohammad works closely with the Director of Membership and Regional Networks to advance the development of the MENA Network. His work includes fundraising to increase the capacity of the Network and building a culture of collaboration among the MENA Green Building Councils. 
Mohammad was a WorldGBC Board member, and has chaired the WorldGBC’s MENA Regional Network and the Jordan Green Building Council.
During his career, he has served as a Senior Adviser to the USAID Energy Sector Capacity Building Programme and as the Environment, Water and Energy Sector Lead at the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program. He was an adviser to the Board of Trustees of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, founded the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, and worked on developing the concept behind El Hassan Science City. He also worked at the Jordan Investment Board and served as a consultant for the UNDP, UNIDO, and USAID ‘s AMIR Programme. He was appointed as a regional advisor to OECD’ s MENA Investment Programme, chaired UNEP – SBCI’s Advocacy Committee, and was a founding board member at Al Shajarah NGO. 
Mohammad received his BA in Business from the University of Jordan and his Masters in Positive Leadership and Strategy from the IE Business School in Madrid.

Arvind Kumar,

Arvind is an engineer, MBA, LEED Green Associate professional and an ardent aluminum lover!
My current role involves in working with the finest minds in the field of architectural aluminium in the Greater Middle East Markets. One of my key tasks involves extending partnerships with building designers, architects, consultants, developers and contractors. The discussions usually can range from designing an attractive sliding fold door for a luxury chalet to building up a bespoke aluminium facade for the vertical cities of the future.
Because I am associated with Technal, one of the world’s leading aluminium system manufacturer, my interactions further extend to students in the architecture schools and the wider construction academia. This keeps me extremely in tune with upcoming design trends and of course the learning never stops.

Yuser Al Mutawa,

Yuser Almutawa received her BEng degree in Civil Engineeringfrom the University of Surrey in 2015. She pursued her mastersat the University of Bath where she received her MsC in ModernBuilding Design in 2017. Sara Okasha and Abrar Asrawi

Abrar and Sara are two architects who had been shortlisted in the international FINSA award 2018 and chosen for the annual KASA exhibition 2018 for the best selected studio projects during the year. They received their bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kuwait University, in 2018. They have the passion toward sustainability, and they believe that architecture is a main tool to raise the awareness.


Dr. Hassan Qasem,
General Manager, Alternative Energy Project Company
Dr. Hassan Qasem has been the general manager of the Alternative Energy Project Company (AEPC), a subsidiary of Kuwait Projects Company holding, since 2016.
Dr. Qasem have been developing and managing solar related projects and research in the area of photovoltaic technology for the last 14 years. His experience varied from international standard testing for PV (UL and IEC) to outdoor characterization of the performance of PV.
Dr. Qasem is the initiator of the soiling workshop which is an annual activity that has been going for the last two years and is part of the PV Quality Assurance work force voluntary group (managed by NREL). Dr. Qasem have also managed many different PV related projects where one of them he managed the PV part of the Shygaya project. Also, he was the developer of KISR PV indoor characterization laboratory and DEWA’s indoor and outdoor laboratories as part of the DEWA Research and Development center in Muhammad Bin Rashid Solar Park in Dubai.
Dr. Qasem held many positions throughout his career where he worked for Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory (now is known as TUV PTL USA) as a test engineer. He also joined KISR as Associate Researcher in the area of PV. He then joined DEWA as a Senior Researcher and the head of the solar research team as part of DEWA R&D center. Dr. Qasem has many publications in different highly ranked journals and international conferences. He chaired many sessions in international conferences (IEEE, EUPVSC…etc) and workshops. He is also a senior member in the International Electrical, Electronic Engineering association as well as being a committee member in the Device Society chapter in the IEEE.
Dr. Qasem hold a PhD in Electrical and Electronic engineering from Loughborough University in UK and master’s degree in electrical system engineering with emphasis in renewable energy from Arizona State university. His bachelor’s degree is in electrical engineering from Arizona State university.

Zeineb Abdmouleh,

Zeineb Abdmouleh has M.Sc. Industrial Engineering graduated from the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT) and a B.Sc. Physics & Chemistry, from Sfax Preparatory Engineering Institute (IPEIS) in Tunisia. She has over 6 years of international experience in conducting research, consultancy, and delivering projects in several topics such as Renewable Energy, Green Building, Smart Grids, Power System Modeling, Energy Efficiency, and Energy policies. Her main fields of expertise are power system optimization, integration of renewables, energy policies and strategies to achieve sustainable development, from the perspectives of research, utilities, and private sector. She works currently as Energy Consultant. Zeineb received several certified trainings from international and regional agencies that include World Bank, UNIDO, IRENA, RCREEE. Her Diploma Thesis got the DESERTEC Best Paper Award in 2012 and she has been nominated for Qatar Sustainability Award 2017 under Green Research category.

Samir Nicolas SADDI,

Founder and Director of ARCADE or Arab Research Center for Architecture and Design of the Environment

Samir Nicolas Saddi is an architect and photographer with more than 43 years of global experience, half of those in the GCC countries. He designed large-scale projects and managed the design and construction of major museum projects in the Gulf. As researcher he founded ARCADE that aims to propose innovation approaches for a sustainable and bio-climatically responsive architecture and urban planning through researching vernacular architecture and historic cities in the MENA region.

Dr. Ali Alajmi
Associate Professor, College of Technological Studies, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training
Dr. Ali Alajmi started his career as Mechanical Piping & HVAC Design Engineer at Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), 1994. Dr. Alajmi has moved to the academia as faculty staff in Power and Refrigeration Department, College of Technological Studies since 1999. In 2016 assigned as a visiting professor at Portland State University, USA.
Dr. Alajmi has interested in Building Energy Performance research since started his Ph.D. study in 2002. Dr. Alajmi has been working on Building Energy Performance and Technology over 10 years. He has conducted many types of research in building energy audit, new HVAC technology, building simulation and optimization some of which has been implemented on the ground. He published many articles in international journals and conferences. He conducted many training courses and workshops concerning the energy use modeling and energy efficiency. Dr. Alajmi holds a Ph.D. in Built Environment from Loughborough University in the UK and Master and Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering Science from Kuwait University.

Yuser Almutawa is a Project Specialist at the National Technologies Enterprises Company and she is a cofounder and COO of SEEDS platform. She received her BEng degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey in 2015. She pursued her masters at the University of Bath where she received her MsC in Modern Building Design in 2017. As a recent graduate, she worked and trained in different parts of the world in order to gain more knowledge on the current green built environment sector and its latest applications. Her research interests’ includes renewable materials and their effect on building physics and building energy strategies and solutions that can be implemented in order to achieve a low energy design that can serve people, climate and the surrounding environment.

Yasmeen Alkandari is a LEED Engineer, at Limak Insaat Kuwait, Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2. Project and Co-founder and CEO of SEEDS Platform. She achieved her BEng (Hon) in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 2015 then her MSc in Modern Building Design from the University of Bath in 2017. Throughout her studies, she attended a Passivhaus design course then interned as an environmental engineering assistant in BDP, Manchester where she completed energy modeling for a mixed-use high-rise tower. She also developed a low carbon villa design inspired from vernacular architecture for Jeddah, Saudia Arabia. She obtained her LEED AP BD+C certification in 2018. Her research experience and interests are in low carbon design inspired from vernacular architecture and associated sociocultural challenges in the GCC region; energy modeling for domestic, non-domestic and mixed-use buildings, and green building certification systems.

Dr. Nada Chami

Nada Chami is a sustainable construction specialist with more than 10 years of experience. She has a mechanical engineering background with a PhD degree in Building Insulation and Energy Efficiency from Ecole des Mines in Paris.

Nada joined the Saint-Gobain Group in 2010 and worked within the R&D Building Science Team in France. She moved to the UAE in 2013 and worked on developing sustainable construction solutions, adapted to the region and local regulations. She is currently part of the business development team, working closely with the governmental authorities, regulatory bodies and consultants to advocate for sustainable construction. She focuses on developing a building science approach when looking into the health and well-being of occupants and the importance of achieving energy efficiency with today’s sustainable vision, environmental objectives and energy challenges.
